Technology Tip: Back Up Your Data
What would you do if you lost all of your documents and client information? Ensure that it never happens by backing up your data, images, and email on a regular basis. Several backup options are available: flash drives, external hard drives, and online backup. One simple and inexpensive online backup option is Mozy. Mozy Free enables users to backup up to 2Gb for no cost. Mozy Plus lets users choose how much space they need, ranging from $2-$10 per month for 5Gb-60Gb. Visit www.mozy.com for more information and to sign up. Interested in other backup options? Click here to download backup information in PDF format from NPower

Spim is the New Spam
If you use an instant messenger (IM), you might find IM spam, or spim, popping up on your screen. Growing faster than spam, spim may contain unsolicited offers or viruses. These messages may come from strangers or may look like they are from your friends. Spim can be prevented by following a few guidelines: never publish your IM username on websites; don’t reply to “buddies” that you don’t know; never give personal information in an instant message; transfer files via email rather than IM; and, tweak settings on your IM client to allow only people you trust to contact you (visit http://www.pcworld.com/article/id,115602/article.html to learn how).
